I've said it before and I'm saying it again. Don't believe anything the government tells you. They didn't even have the decency to tell the truth to the family of Pat Tillman; Good, hero stories are far too valuable a propaganda asset to let a pesky detail like the truth ruin a good story.

I find it funny that some actually believe what is being told to them from the people who control our purses and lives. If they are so desperate and conniving as to cover up and lie about something as regular as friendly fire, what makes you think the big things aren't just as easily covered up and lied about?

WASHINGTON (AP) - An Army Ranger who was with Pat Tillman when he died by friendly fire said Tuesday he was told by a higher-up to conceal that information from Tillman's family.
"I was ordered not to tell them," U.S. Army Specialist Bryan O'Neal told the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
He said he was given the order by then-Lt. Col. Jeff Bailey, the battalion commander who oversaw Tillman's platoon.
Pat Tillman's brother Kevin was in a convoy behind his brother when the incident happened, but didn't see it. O'Neal said Bailey told him specifically not to tell Kevin Tillman that the death was friendly fire rather than heroic engagement with the enemy.

And this little tidbit is par for the course.

In questioning what the White House knew, Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., cited a memo written by a top general seven days after Tillman's death warning it was "highly possible" the Army Ranger was killed by friendly fire and making clear his warning should be conveyed to the president. President Bush made no reference to the way Tillman died in a speech delivered two days after the memo was written.

Bush will tell us that he didn't know. Do you believe him? Do you believe anyone in government anymore?

Mary Tillman told the committee that family members were "absolutely appalled" upon realizing the extent to which they were misled.
"We've all been betrayed ... We never thought they would use him the way they did," she said.
The Tillman family has made similar accusations against the administration and the military before, but has generally shied away from news media attention. The family had never previously appeared together and summarized their criticism and questions in such a public, comprehensive way.
"We shouldn't be allowed to have smoke screens thrown in our face," Mary Tillman said. "You're diminishing their true heroism to write these glorious tales. It's really a disservice to the nation."
"Our family will never be satisfied. We'll never have Pat back," she said. "Something really awful happened. It's your job to find out what happened to him. That's really important."
Last month the military concluded in a pair of reports that nine high-ranking Army officers, including four generals, made critical errors in reporting Tillman's death but that there was no criminal wrongdoing in his shooting.

More than one year before today's unprecedented shooting rampage at Virginia Tech, the state's General Assembly quashed a bill that would have given college students and employees the right to carry handguns on campus.
At the time, Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker said he was happy to hear of the bill's defeat, according to the Roanoke Times.
"I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus," the Virginia Tech spokesman said...................

The proposal, House Bill 1572, was initiated by Del. Todd Gilbert, R-Shenandoah County, on behalf of the Virginia Citizens Defense League.
But the bill didn't make it through its first stage, the House Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety.
The Roanoke paper said most universities in Virginia require students and employees, other than police, to check their guns with police or campus security upon entering campus.
Backers of the bill wanted to prohibit public universities from making "rules or regulations limiting or abridging the ability of a student who possesses a valid concealed handgun permit ... from lawfully carrying a concealed handgun."
Exceptions would have been made for participants in athletic events, storage of guns in residence halls and military training programs.
In the spring of 2005, a Virginia Tech student who had a concealed handgun permit was disciplined for bringing a handgun to class.
Second Amendment groups questioned the university's authority, but the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police argued against guns on campus.
In June 2006, Virginia Tech's governing board approved a violence prevention policy that reaffirmed the school's ban.

Colleges don't like students to defend themselves. We've seen how that turns out. And, don't expect anyone in the MSM to mention how a student with a personal gun stopped a shooter at Appalachian Law School from going on a similar rampage. The government is responsible for the deaths of the students at Tech. Any (one) could have ended the spree with a sidearm at his hip. But it is illegal to keep a gun on your hip in Virginia at a school of learning. Maybe we've all learned something about gun control today.

These two young girls were killed by an illegal alien who was drunk driving and had been arrested in Chesapeake, Virginia just prior to his homicidal drive.

VIRGINIA BEACH - A man accused of killing two high school students Friday night in a car crash has a record of alcohol-related convictions in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.
Alfredo Ramos, charged with manslaughter in the deaths of Allison Kunhardt, 17, and Tessa Tranchant, 16, was convicted this year of DUI in Chesapeake and of public intoxication in Virginia Beach.
Ramos, who admitted in court Monday that he is in the country illegally, also was convicted in Chesapeake last year of public drunkenness.

The allowance of Illegal immigration into this country by the Bush administration and every other jelly spined politician who agitates for less funding for and no protection of our sovereign borders killed these two young ladies. If this piece of scum was not here, or was deported when he was first arrested for DUI, these two ladies would be home right now. This is the legacy of illegal immigration. Some Seattle school children are being told to be skeptical of private property rights. This lesson is being taught by banning Legos.
A ban was initiated at the Hilltop Children's Center in Seattle. According to an article in the winter 2006-07 issue of "Rethinking Schools" magazine, the teachers at the private school wanted their students to learn that private property ownership is evil.
According to the article, the students had been building an elaborate "Legotown," but it was accidentally demolished. The teachers decided its destruction was an opportunity to explore "the inequities of private ownership." According to the teachers, "Our intention was to promote a contrasting set of values: collectivity, collaboration, resource-sharing, and full democratic participation."
The children were allegedly incorporating into Legotown "their assumptions about ownership and the social power it conveys." These assumptions "mirrored those of a class-based, capitalist society -- a society that we teachers believe to be unjust and oppressive."
They claimed as their role shaping the children's "social and political understandings of ownership and economic equity ... from a perspective of social justice."
So they first explored with the children the issue of ownership. Not all of the students shared the teachers' anathema to private property ownership. "If I buy it, I own it," one child is quoted saying. The teachers then explored with the students concepts of fairness, equity, power, and other issues over a period of several months.

We know how the socialists have infiltrated public education and are indoctrinating our children with their failed ideas about collectivism. This is just more proof. But one kid hasn't yet been reconstructed into the mold of the new socialist man.

Portsmouth police have arrested a man they say defaced a Confederate monument by spray painting the face.
In June of 2005, someone called police saying the statue, which sits at the corner of High Street and Court Streets, had been vandalized. According to investigators, someone spray painted the face of the statue with black paint.
On Tuesday, police arrested 20-year-old Troy Allen Capps of East Pollux Circle. He has been charged with a class 6 felony. Capps could face up to 2 years in prison with additional fines.

It took a long time, but they have finally got this vandal. I wonder how hard the slap on the wrist he's going to get will be.

Frederica Wilson, D-Miami. "An alien to me is someone from out of space."She has introduced a bill providing that: "A state agency or official may not use the term 'illegal alien' in an official document of the state." There would be no penalty for using the words.In Miami-Dade County, Wilson said, "we don't say 'alien,' we say 'immigrant.'"She said she encountered the situation when trying to pass a bill allowing children of foreigners to get in-state tuition at colleges and universities. Wilson, who directs a dropout prevention and education program in Miami, said she politely asks witnesses at public hearings on such issues not to use the term."There are students in our schools whose parents are trying to become citizens and we shouldn't label them," she said. "They are immigrants, through no fault of their own, not aliens."Wilson said the first word isn't as bad as the second."'Illegal,' I can live with, but I like 'undocumented' better," she said.Asked if her bill (SB 2154) might run afoul of Gov. They want to ban the word 'alien' on all official state document? You know they don't care about citizens when they spend money to debate the feelings of ILLEGAL ALIENS. Evangelical Christians are already beginning the process of selecting the Republican presidential candidate whom they can anoint as their successor to George W. Bush. Somehow, evangelicals have this deluded idea that President Bush is one of them. How they came to this delusion both fascinates and escapes me. Bush is anything but one of them. However, most evangelicals believe he is, and today it seems that illusion is greater than reality, anyway. Bush proves that more than anyone I have ever known. But enough about Bush.
The question burning in the minds of evangelicals today is: Which Republican candidate for president will we anoint? There are several possibilities, but apparently Congressman Ron Paul is not one of them....................

Ron Paul is a conservative's conservative, a principled constitutionalist of the finest order. How is it, then, that Jerry Falwell and other evangelicals ignore him?
The answer to the above question is not easy to determine. Maybe today's evangelicals are more concerned about being accepted by the GOP establishment than they are supporting principled, conservative candidates. After all, Paul's willingness to openly oppose his own party has caused him to be blacklisted by party loyalists and apologists. Therefore, it might be that our illustrious evangelical leaders are unwilling to be identified with Paul lest they share the same ostracism.
Another reason might be that today's evangelicals are extremely shallow in their discernment. They seem to love Republican candidates who wear religion on their sleeve. Whether the candidate walks the walk does not seem to matter near as much as whether he talks the talk.
Hence, evangelicals are already warming up to John McCain, Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, and even to Rudy Giuliani. Falwell's National Liberty Journal (NLJ) calls Gingrich "a true American statesman." McCain is called "pro-life." Already, McCain has spoken for Dr. Falwell at his Liberty University. (Don't be surprised if Falwell becomes one of McCain's strongest proponents.) The NLJ quotes Evangelicals for Mitt as saying, "Gov. Romney . . . shares our values." Of Giuliani, NLJ states, "On issues such as national security, battling terrorism and combating crime, Mr. Giuliani is very popular with conservatives."
However, the truth is, neither Gingrich, Giuliani, Romney, nor McCain deserves the support of principled conservatives. Each of these men has numerous examples of failure and compromise of essential conservative values.............
However, rather than letting themselves be used as dupes by the GOP machine, if America's evangelicals would determine to stand on principle by supporting only those candidates who most courageously champion our principles (regardless of their popularity, or lack thereof, with the Republican hierarchy), they might actually be able to bring real change to American politics.
As it is, evangelicals continue to call George W. Bush "one of us," they continue to drink Kool Aid from the faucet of Republican propaganda, and they continue to ignore Ron Paul.

You may have noticed the almost, total media blackout of Ron Paul and his entry into the presidential field of candidates, which assumes you've heard of Ron Paul before from your own research because you probably haven't even seen his name on anything in print or on the television. Chuck Baldwin's article sums up the reasons that Evangelical Christians won't vote for Ron Paul, and he is right, but the problem is much larger than that. No 'republican' would possibly vote for Ron Paul; that would force people to come to the conclusion the republican party doesn't have the slightest shred of respect for the constitution when not running for office and only pays lip service to our supposedly 'revered' law/founding document. Ron Paul votes according to the constitution; no one in congress or the senate does that, and thus if you've voted for those people you have voted against the constitution. No one who calls themself a conservative could possibly bring their hypocrisy to the forefront of their minds like that. It would be too hard for Ron Paul to inflict such intellctual dissonance on the people. This is the reason that Ron Paul will continue to be ignored not only by the main stream media, but the people who should support him as well.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- National Democrats on Tuesday urged Republican Party chairman Mel Martinez to stop the independent College Republicans from holding "Catch an Illegal Immigrant" events around the country.
Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean and Ramona Martinez, chair of the Democratic National Committee's Hispanic caucus, sent a letter to the GOP chairman asking him to put a halt to the events.
"These despicable tactics have no place in our public discourse or on our college campuses," the letter said.
The game is a variation of hide and seek, with one player posing as an illegal immigrant and everyone else trying to find the person. The winner usually gets a prize.
Tracy Schmitt, a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee, said "we find these activities both egregious and offensive and condemn them wholeheartedly." But she noted the College Republicans are independent of the RNC: "We do not control their activities."
Democrats sent a similar letter to chairman Martinez's predecessor Ken Mehlman in September last year, noting that College Republicans were holding similar "catch an illegal immigrant" events in Pennsylvania and Texas. The RNC condemned the activities at the time.
The DNC noted that the game was recently played at New York University and drew several hundred students. Students at other colleges also have played the game.

Maybe it is out of embarrassment that the democrats have found something to protest about the college republicans in New York. Or maybe, they just feel so criticized by a bunch of college republicans who are more in tune with the people on the illegal invasion than they are that they have to strike back some how. Catch an illegal day is, of course, just a stunt to get some awareness on the issue of this mass calculated invasion of these united states. When democrats want to talk about something they push down other peoples throats they call it a 'dialogue', but when it is something they protect and defend more than the borders and the constitution it is called hateful. Street theater is always their friend until it is used against them. They asked the RNC how they felt about this and they responded in the politically correct way, that it is egregious and some such sour words for the college kids who want to make a point. I thought leaving the border wide open and conspiring with the democrats to keep it open would be considered egregious. But what do I know?

If the republicans can't be counted on to support a game that merely gives lip service to the idea that illegal aliens shouldn't be in our country, can they really be counted on to stop this flood coming in?

Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut said today while he has no immediate plans to become a Republican, he might change his mind if Democrats oppose funding the war in Iraq.
"I have no desire to change parties," Lieberman told the Politico. "If that ever happens, it is because I feel the majority of Democrats have gone in a direction that I don't feel comfortable with." The Politico asked whether that hasn't already happened, as Democrats have focused their energies on passing a non-binding resolution condemning President Bush's plan to deploy an additional 21,500 troops to Iraq. "We will see how that plays out in the coming months," he said, referring specifically to how the party handles war funding.

If you haven't come to the conclusion that both parties are essentialy the same, you need no further proof than this article on Joe Lieberman who is 'mulling' a switch to the repuclicrat party. Lieberman is one of, if not the most liberal politician on the Potomac as can be seen from his voting record (Stalin would have been farther to the right than this Joe), and all it will take to have him switch parties to the Democrat's --cough, cough-- ideological enemy is a vote on the funding of the war. I could keep writing and writing to convince you, but must I? And if the war leads one to believe that there is a difference of opinion up there, why hasn't Lieberman already changed parties? Because either party he is in, he will vote the same way. Nothing changes but a letter behind a name.

The Museum of the Confederacy will likely drop the word "Confederacy" from its name when it moves its collection to a new home.
"One of our challenges is a gap between the public's perception of who we are and the role we play, and the reality of who we are and the role we play," Waite Rawls, the museum's president and CEO, said yesterday. "The repositioning we have done over the past 30 years is to be more of a modern education institution and less of a memorial . . . to the Confederacy."
The museum dates to Feb. 22, 1896, when The Confederate Museum opened in the former home of Confederate President Jefferson Davis. The new name, Rawls said, would depend on the location of the museum.

They're going to change the Museum of the Confederacy to the museum of the? I know what name they should use. I propose to call it The museum of the we've been beaten down by leftists who liken anything with the word Confederate or Confederacy to racism. Did I mention my wrist is limp? And we're not racist, I swear, Museum.

The name is long, I admit, but it succintly sums up the position of the museum and it's new progressive direction. They aren't a memorial to the Confederacy you see. They are a 'modern education institution', whatever the hell that is.

To me, the Confederate flag symbolizes slavery, oppression and denying people their rights," Lexington Councilwoman Mimi Elrod said yesterday in a phone interview. "I have a problem with a museum that celebrates that being in our city. If you have a museum that looks at all aspects of the Civil War, that's very different to me."
After discussing a possible name change with Rawls, Elrod said she welcomes more talks. Lexington City Council has appointed a committee to look into the best uses for its courthouse complex.
"This may all work out very nicely," Elrod said.

And some city councilman has who wants fifteen minutes of fame and who I think is affiliated with Washington and LEE university ( no irony there) has her sights set on the standard progressive bonafide of attacking the Confederate Battle Flag as racist and asking it to come down. At least the paper hunted down a person of influence to comment on the flag and the museum.

This is just more of the same, but damn if they aren't getting bolder.

They did go to great lengths to malign the flag and make modern Confederates see, that it is racist and, in the modern American tradition of making more money, the name should be changed. They found about 10 (About?) historians, grant writers, and perservationists (No doubt Yankees or transplanted Yankees) to vouch for their new push.

A group of about 10 historians, grant writers and preservationists don't think so. The committee studied the museum's health last year and released its findings in October. The report states that the word "Confederacy" carries "enormous, intransigent and negative intellectual baggage with many. For them, the Confederacy, and by association the Museum of the Confederacy, now symbolize racism."

So if they change the name Confederacy they won't be racist? I just don't get it, but I wasn't educated in a northern college.

What do you call those people who betray their own? Traitors, that's it. Scalawags sounds just as good.

The US flew nearly $12bn in shrink-wrapped $100 bills into Iraq, then distributed the cash with no proper control over who was receiving it and how it was being spent.
The staggering scale of the biggest transfer of cash in the history of the Federal Reserve has been graphically laid bare by a US congressional committee.
In the year after the invasion of Iraq in 2003 nearly 281 million notes, weighing 363 tonnes, were sent from New York to Baghdad for disbursement to Iraqi ministries and US contractors. Using C-130 planes, the deliveries took place once or twice a month with the biggest of $2,401,600,000 on June 22 2004, six days before the handover.
Details of the shipments have emerged in a memorandum prepared for the meeting of the House committee on oversight and government reform which is examining Iraqi reconstruction. Its chairman, Henry Waxman, a fierce critic of the war, said the way the cash had been handled was mind-boggling. "The numbers are so large that it doesn't seem possible that they're true. Who in their right mind would send 363 tonnes of cash into a war zone?"

I guess there is a need for a story about the 393 tons of $100 bills the federal reserve sent t0 war torn Iraq and dispersed without any oversight, but it's just business as usual. The tyranny of the federal government is becoming so transparent and commonplace that it doesn't even get a reaction out of most people any more. Business as usual. What are we fighting for in Iraq again? Stealing billions and billions of dollars from the government and giving it away to, we don't know who they gave it away to, God knows who is no example for that fledgling democracy in Iraq. It is a good lesson for them on how to steal from the people, which is something the united states does extremely well.

Perhaps the recent shift of control of Congress to the Democrats has made them nervous, though God knows there are precious few Jeffersonian Democrats in the modern Democratic Party.
And what, you might well ask, is a Jeffersonian Democrat? He's a person who hasn't forgotten that the sovereign states created the federal government, not the reverse, as some today seem to assume. He believes that what the Constitution created was a republic of sovereign states, and that the carefully limited powers assigned to the federal government were all the powers it had, in peace or in war. He believes the Constitution is a binding contract, not a rubbery document that can mean anything a judge or a politician says it means. He believes in a system of checks and balances. In short, he believes in the Declaration of Independence.
That document, you might recall, says that the only purpose of government is to protect rights already granted by God, and that when a government fails to protect those rights and begins to abuse them, the people have the right to alter or overthrow it. "Sounds communistic to me," grumbles old Jack Jingoist. "That guy Jefferson must have been some kind of a pinko."
Why else would Lord Acton, the great British philosopher of liberty, have written to Robert E. Lee, America's greatest soldier, that, "I grieve more for what was lost at Appomattox than I rejoice at what was gained at Waterloo." Lord Acton saw clearly what many American professors of history do not – that the defeat of the South was the end of America's experiment in liberty and self-government and a conscious choice to emulate the central governments of Europe.

Leviathan, Big Brother or whatever you want to call it will come to an end of its own design. The devices which are used to construct a gargantuan government that saps the freedom and spirit of its people for any reason sows the seeds of its own destruction.

It's just a shame the people have to endure its tyranny while waiting for the inevitable collapse.

Two analysts who have reconstructed money supply data after the Fed stopped publishing it argue a coming dollar collapse will set the stage for creating the amero as a North American currency to replace the dollar.
The reconstructed M3 data – the broadest measure of money – published on econometrician Gary Kuever's website, NowAndFutures.com, shows M3 increased at a rate of 11 percent in May, compared to 9 percent when the Federal Reserve quit publishing M3 data earlier this year.
Asked why the Fed decided to stop publishing M3 data, Kuever told WND, "The Fed probably wants to hide how much liquidity is being pumped into the market, and I expect the trend to keep pumping liquidity into the market will continue, especially since the economy is slowing down."

Why is this important?
"The trend line in my M3-plus-debt chart is staggering," Kuever said. "There has been a straight, long-term trend line of M3-plus-credit increasing since 2000. Long-term, we are creating inflation and the dollar has lost almost 98 percent of its value in the past 100 years."
Kuever, a retired investor, is concerned that with growing budget and trade deficits "the dollar could collapse."
"Especially if the Fed cannot increase rates, because we have already entered a recession," he said.

Bob Chapman, who issued a reconstructed M3 estimate to the 100,000 subscribers to his newsletter, "The International Forecaster", agrees.
"The world is awash in money and credit," Chapman told WND. "My numbers show M3 increasing at about a 10-percent rate right now."
Chapman believes the U.S. economy entered a recession in February. In his newsletter of Dec. 9 he predicted the Fed would hold interest rates at 5.25 percent.
"The Fed is in a very tough spot here," Chapman wrote, "If they raise rates, the real estate market will collapse, and if they lower rates, the dollar will collapse."
Meeting yesterday, the Federal Reserve Open Market Committee voted, as Chapman had predicted, to hold the overnight lending rates between banks steady at 5.25 percent. This was the fourth straight meeting the Fed had voted not to change rates. In its rate announcement, the Fed affirmed the economy had slowed.
Almost immediately after the announcement of the Fed's decision, the dollar weakened to a new 20-month low against the euro, with currency markets reportedly pricing in the expectation the Fed will be forced to lower rates next year to bolster the economy. Following the announcement by the Fed, the U.S. Dollar Index, or USDX, also dropped, with the dollar going below 83.
A dollar collapse is imminent, Chapman declared.
"Technicians studying the USDX think there is a support level for the dollar at 75, but I don't think so."
How low could the dollar go?
"If the dollar breaks through 78.33 on the USDX," Chapman answered, "my guess is the dollar will go through a 35-percent correction, which would put it at 55."
"The key in how low the dollar goes is the interest rates," Chapman told WND. "In January, the Fed is going to have to make a decision which way to go. If Fed rates go up, the dollar will hold in the 78.33 range, but the stock market and the economy will tank. If next year the Fed lowers rates to keep the economy from crashing, the bottom will fall out of the dollar, and I see it going as low as 55. Once the dollar hits bottom, it will take the stock market and the economy right with it anyway. The Fed is in a box they can't get out of."

How severe will the coming dollar collapse be?
"People in the U.S. are going to be hit hard," Chapman warned. "In the severe recession we are entering now, Bush will argue that we have to form a North American Union to compete with the Euro."
"Creating the amero," Chapman explained, "will be presented to the American public as the administration's solution for dollar recovery. In the process of creating the amero, the Bush administration just abandons the dollar."

It is an immutable truth that all fiat currencies fail sooner or later. Ours is only going to take about 93 years to live out its (useful to those who created and benefit from it) life.

And then the Amero will come to save us all.

It's never a good sign when your nightmares become a reality.

BRONSON - Levy County's public libraries are struggling to get books checked out or reshelved because retirees who usually handle many of those chores have balked at a requirement that they "pee in a cup" as part of a mandatory drug test for all county volunteers."It's not like we are a high-risk group for coming in drunk or high or stoned or whatever," said one volunteer. "This is just a common-sense issue - why are we spending tax money to test 75-year-old grandmothers for marijuana? We should be using that money to buy more books and computers."The situation has gotten to the point where the pool of 55 volunteers has dwindled to two and the number of hours worked by volunteers in the county's five libraries plunged from 330 in September 2005 to 11 this September, according to county library records. None of the former volunteers contacted by The Sun wanted to be publicly identified in a story about drug-testing.

Even when government policies harm the government, they can't begin to address what problems they have brought upon themselves. Grandma and Grandpa can't even volunteer anymore without harrassment. Drug tests for Senior Citizens? The only imagination that can come up with a proposal like this one is a bureaucrat's.

THE SPLC STRIKES AGAIN

Patrick Buchanan is getting the "He's a white nationalist" treatment from the SPLC, and they're using their signature style of dubbing someone they disagree with a 'racist' by the guilt of association.

In fact, the book reflects racial views that have now veered to the extreme. White America is changing color, Buchanan argues -- "one of the greatest tragedies in human history." The Mexican government is involved in a plot to take over the Southwestern United States, and parts of this country already look like the "Third World." The segregated South wasn't all bad "culturally" -- blacks and whites were united, after all. America, despite what its founders wrote, was a nation formed not on the basis of creed but rather a homogenous ethnic culture. To put it plainly, State of Emergency is a white nationalist tract. The thesis is that America must retain a white majority to survive as a nation. It is rooted in a blood-and-soil nationalism more blood than soil. The echoes of Nazi ideology are clear and chilling. As Buchanan helpfully explained to John King, who was interviewing him in one of his several CNN appearances: "We gotta get into race and ethnic questions."
State of Emergency unapologetically reflects Buchanan's insistence on the centrality of race to the United States and its culture. "This idea of America as a creedal nation bound together not by 'blood or birth or soil' but by 'ideals' that must be taught and learned ... is demonstrably false," Buchanan writes in the book.
Simply put, America is not a nation of ideas. It is a nation of people -- white people. Buchanan is especially overt in making this case when he endorses the view of his late mentor and editor Sam Francis, that American and European civilizations could never have been created without the "genetic endowments" of whites. He goes on to describe discussions of race as "the Great Taboo"; to ignore the role of race, he adds, is "like not telling one's doctor of a recurring pain that could kill you."

Buchanan is Hitler himself, and the SPLC is the final authority on all things race.

Once again, to make his case in State of Emergency, Buchanan relies on a trove of extreme-right sources. His urgent call for thwarting the "invasion" of non-European immigrants leans heavily on material written by hate group members or postings on hate sites, with citations to nearly every sector of the hate movement, from neo-Nazis to neo-Confederates. He cites the work of white supremacist James Lubinskas; Edward Rubinstein, of the white nationalist think tank National Policy Institute; Clyde Wilson, a board member of the racist and secessionist League of the South; and Wayne Lutton, a veteran immigrant- and gay-hater. Buchanan also quotes Lutton's anti-immigrant hate journal The Social Contract.
Buchanan is equally schooled in hate from abroad, mentioning work of British white supremacist Derek Turner published in the American hate journal The Occidental Quarterly, which argues "the civilization and free governments that whites have created" will collapse as they become a minority. And Buchanan knows the oldies-but-goodies, quoting English politician Enoch Powell approvingly at the beginning of his final chapter. Powell was dumped by the Tory leadership in 1968 for claiming that non-white immigration would cause "rivers of blood" to flow in Britain; he has been a white nationalist icon ever since. (In the book, Buchanan claims Powell was essentially correct in his analysis of the problem, but that his "Rivers of Blood" speech was taken out of its original context and distorted.)
Buchanan is especially enamored of his deceased friend Sam Francis, the white supremacist who was fired in 1995 by The Washington Times for breaking the "race taboo" and went on to a 10-year career editing the Citizens Informer, a bimonthly newsletter put out by the Council of Conservative Citizens, which grew out of the segregationist White Citizens Councils of the 1950s and '60s. Far more than Buchanan's friend and editor, Francis was his mentor. Buchanan knows Francis' racist oeuvre inside and out, citing some seven Francis pieces. Buchanan's basic argument in State of Emergency -- America should be a white country and dark-skinned immigrants threaten it -- was made by Francis for years.
Now, through his old friend Buchanan, Francis continues to be heard from beyond the grave.

The SPLC is an organization that doesn't likes to discuss the issues, that is beneath them, seeing as they have found the true and proper way to conduct the affairs and people of a nation, regardless of what the people of a nation want themselves. So they trot out the tried and true line of reasoning. R knew A who knew C who quoted I on a website created by S who went to a high school dance with T. RACIST!

With fool proof intellectual arguments like this, we can be thankful that the SPLC is working for their own purse. There is no debate at the SPLC, only smearing and insinuation.

Protesters storm stage at Columbia University (WND photo)Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist was attacked by angry, violent protesters last night who stormed the stage during his speech at Columbia University in New York City, forcing an abrupt end to the event.
An African-American member of the Minuteman board who spoke prior to Gilchrist was taunted with the "n-word," according to WND columnist Jerome Corsi.
Corsi had been scheduled to follow Gilchrist with a speech of his own, but after university security personnel whisked the Minuteman leader offstage, the New York Young Republican Club meeting was shut down.

Gilchrist told WND the "violent outburst is yet another indication that those who support illegal immigration are happy to use communist tactics in their intolerant determination to prevent the Minutemen from exercising their First Amendment rights."
A protester who spoke anonymously to the independent student newspaper Columbia Spectator said the stage takeover was planned.
"I don't feel like we need to apologize or anything. It was fundamentally a part of free speech. ... The Minutemen are not a legitimate part of the debate on immigration."
Prior to the event, a group of protestors estimated by New York police to number around 200 assembled with placards and a loudspeaker to denounce Gilchrist and the Minutemen.
Slogans on the placards included, "Workers of the world unite! Same struggle, same fight!," and "Minutemen, Nazis, KKK! Racists, fascists, go away!"

Isn't that something else? Any group which insists that these united states enforce their immigration laws is a racist group. The college communists have told us so, and that is the end of the story. A good question to ask yourself is, who would president Bush back in the protest of the Minutemen, the lawful American Minutemen who are advocating the enforcement of our laws, or the vile, communist, illegal scum which try to silence those who try to speak their opinion? It isn't the American citizens, well maybe. In Bush's view of the world, Mexico and America are one country. He's been working on it for some time now and I fear we'll find out far too soon what that means to our forgotten republic.

FRANKLIN — A Confederate battle flag and the crack of rifle fire were two of the sights and sounds Civil War soldiers faced 140 years ago.
Yet top Franklin officials contend those things, each fraught with modern symbolism and conflicts, should not be present during a Nov. 30 ceremony to commemorate those killed during the 1864 Battle of Franklin.
Mayor Tom Miller is urging that a color guard planned for the event not fly the Confederate flag. Police Chief Jackie Moore wants re-enactors to keep their rifles away from the ceremony.
"In the strongest terms possible, let me suggest that flag not appear," Miller told officials Monday night during a committee meeting to approve funding for the event.
Afterward, Miller acknowledged he might face criticism.
But he said he wants to avoid controversy that might come from flying the flag.
Moore said he wants to keep rifles away because of security issues.
"I do have serious concerns about the safety and our being able as a police department to vouch that firearms used and borne in this event are safe," Moore said.
While both men say they want to avoid conflicts, their stances have raised thorny issues about race and history.

Wonderful 14th amendment, how we worship you. The 14th amendment, which is accepted as unratified among people who believe that the rule of law isn't an extension of military power and proof that what the Confederates said the Yankees were going to do they did, has been a boon to those who have long sought to subvert our constitutuion even further than the lengths which they already have. The latest incarnation of this despicable piece of ( I can't call it law) , is the interpretation that just being born on our soil makes one an automatic united states citizen. Only a supreme court justice could come up with this interpretation. People who can't see into the souls of documents, as the sainted robed ones can, left with only their meager ability to read and comprehend, would not and could not come up with this interpretation. This being the case one would assume that this ( I can't call it law) would have been jettisoned long ago. Alas it is not and will not be. Ron Paul is the only person in congress with a measure of truth as to this country's founding and laws and is going to do what he can to see that this interpretation is changed.

But our modern welfare state creates perverse incentives for immigrants, incentives that cloud the issue of why people choose to come here. The real problem is not immigration, but rather the welfare state magnet.
Hospitals bear the costs when illegal immigrants enter the country for the express purpose of giving birth. But illegal immigrants also use emergency rooms, public roads, and public schools. In many cases they are able to obtain Medicaid, food stamps, public housing, and even unemployment benefits. Some have fraudulently collected Social Security benefits.
Of course many American citizens also use or abuse the welfare system. But we cannot afford to open our pocketbooks to the rest of the world. We must end the perverse incentives that encourage immigrants to come here illegally, including the anchor baby incentive.
I’ve introduced legislation that would amend the Constitution and end automatic birthright citizenship. The 14th amendment was ratified in 1868, on the heels of the Civil War. The country, especially the western territories, was wide open and ripe for homesteading. There was no welfare state to exploit, and the modern problems associated with immigration could not have been imagined.
Our founders knew that unforeseen problems with our system of government would arise, and that’s precisely why they gave us a method for amending the Constitution. It’s time to rethink birthright citizenship by amending the 14th amendment.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Some time this month, the number of Americans will surpass 300 million, a milestone that raises environmental impact questions for the only major industrial nation whose population is increasing substantially.
The U.S. Census Bureau predicts the 300 million mark will be reached in mid-October, 39 years after U.S. population topped 200 million and 91 years after it exceeded 100 million.
This will make the United States No. 3 in population in the world, after China and India.
Most of the growth is taking place in the South and West, according to the Census Bureau. From 2004 to 2005, U.S. population had a natural increase -- births minus deaths -- of 1.7 million and international migration of 1 million.

Remember that number whenever you hear anybody call us a nation of immigrants. Do we really need any more immigrants, legal or illegal?

However, the Bush administration has a fool proof plan to reduce the population count in these united states. Erase the border and the country and these united states will not have any countable population. Easy fix for the Bush administration.

"Now that Congress is preparing to take up the issues of the North American Union and NAFTA superhighways, we are moving out of the realm where critics can attempt to disparage the discussion as 'Internet conspiracy theory,'" explained Jerome Corsi, author and WND columnist who has written extensively on the Security and Prosperity Partnership – the semisecret plan many suspect is behind the efforts to create a European Union-style North American confederation and link Mexico and Canada with more transcontinental highways and rail lines. "This bill represents a good first step."

Q&A Friday #50: Why Are You A Fan Of William Tecumseh Sherman?
Question: "Why would a southerner put Sherman on his list (of Greatest Americans)? I assume Hawkins is from the South?" -- libliever
Answer: First of all, I am from the South. I was born, raised, and live in North Carolina today. However, that doesn't mean I can't appreciate talented generals on both sides of the Civil War. After all, they were all Americans -- and Sherman was brilliant. You can actually see his influence on the strategies of generals like Patton and even Tommy Franks.
Next, I think Sherman actually did the South a big favor by rampaging through the countryside, although most people don't realize it. Grant may have been a brilliant general, but he was content to beat the South in a war on attrition. In other words, he intended to keep forcing men and materials on both sides into a sausage grinder because he knew the South would break first.
On the other hand, Sherman broke the South's will to fight without having to needlessly butcher Southern soldiers. The Southern troops out in the field were fighting to protect their homes and after Sherman made it clear that they couldn't, it helped bring the war to an end. You can rebuild cities and houses, but you can't bring back men who die on the field of battle. Because of Sherman's actions, a lot more Southerners lived to reunite with their families.
Last but not least, some people think Sherman's style of total warfare was some sort of illegitimate or dishonorable tactic. However, I'm not among them. If anything, I think that over the last few decades the Western world has given far too much deference to civilians who support our enemies. In my book, there is nothing whatsoever wrong with trying to break the will of the enemy's civilians, especially if, like Sherman, you refrain from massacring them.
Put it all together and you can see why I'm a big fan of Sherman, even if that's a bit unusual amongst Southerners.

If it was a Yankee, not an Englishman, marketing this doll, he would include a Battleflag to degrade the symobls of the South and a white hood to drive home the point that people in the South are racist and shouldn't have any say in what is going on in the country and the world if they do not accept the liberal, ruling class, globalist offendentitis which is so pervasive in the chic and sophisticated world of unrelenting tolerance of everyone --except the Southerner-. I'm not one to get offended by a simple doll, but I do realize the double standard in contemporary society. This is the image of the South most non Southerners hold of our people and our region. ARBIL, Iraq, Sept 27 (Reuters) - Iraq's Kurdish regional government raised the threat of secession on Wednesday if the Baghdad government did not withdraw claims to a say in the development of oil resources in their northern districts.

"The people of Kurdistan chose to be in a voluntary union with Iraq on the basis of the constitution," Kurdish Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani said in a statement on his official Web site.

"If Baghdad ministers refuse to abide by that constitution, the people of Kurdistan reserve the right to reconsider our choice."

Secession: It really makes it difficult to champion self-determination when one is an avowed enemy of its natural out come. That is why we'll soon be hearing how evil the secessionist Kurds are, akin to what Bush said about Taiwan in relation to China. There is no splitting countries. Don't worry about tyranny, war, and theft. They are just the price one must pay to live in a solidified country, and are preferable to being able to choose your own government. We'll also be treated to our American president and his cronies lecturing the Kurds that they couldn't survive if left to their own devices. If you are not a Yankee then you are not deserving to live in this world. That's what I keep hearing.

STUTTGART, Germany, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Prosecutors urged a German court Wednesday to fine a German man for displaying Nazi symbols, even though he was campaigning against Nazism.
Prosecutor Bernhard Haeussler urged a Stuttgart state court to fine Juergen Kamm $7,600 for selling anti-Nazi merchandise, via his mail-order business, that carries swastikas and other Nazi symbols.
He argued German law strictly forbade the use of symbols associated with the Nazi regime no matter how they were used, the Deutsche Welle broadcaster reported.
Kamm, owner of the Not Good mail-order company, shows what Nazi symbols, but with a circle with a line over them signifying "no."

I Don't Trust Any Computer With My Vote. Do You?

WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 — Three Senate Democrats proposed emergency legislation today to reimburse states for printing paper ballots that can be ready at polling places in case of problems with electronic voting machines on Nov. 7.
The proposal is a response to grass-roots pressure and growing concern by local and state officials about touch-screen machines. An estimated 40 percent of voters will use those machines in the election.
“If someone asks for a paper ballot they ought to be able to have it,” said Senator Barbara Boxer of California, a co-sponsor of the measure with Senator Christopher J. Dodd of Connecticut and Senator Russ Feingold of Wisconson.
Republican leadership aides were skeptical about the prospects for the measure. It would have to advance without opposition from any senator and then make it through the House in the short time available before Election Day.
Dozens of states are using optical-scan and touch-screen machines to comply with federal laws intended to phase out lever and punch-card machines after the hanging-chads confusion of the 2000 presidential election. Widespread problems were reported with the new technology and among poll workers using the machines this year in primaries in Arkansas, Illinois, Maryland, Ohio and elsewhere.

I have my own theory about proper voting practices. I think everyone should write down who they want to vote for on a piece of paper, sign it, and turn it in at the polls with their photo ID or a voter registration card. How many people does it really take to count votes? No so many that it requires a machine. We don't need the results the next day. That makes for good television but not good government.

Are You a Mexican-American-Canadian North American? You Will Be!

Government documents released by a Freedom of Information Act request reveal the Bush administration is running a "shadow government" with Mexico and Canada in which the U.S. is crafting a broad range of policy in conjunction with its neighbors to the north and south, asserts WND columnist and author Jerome R. Corsi.
The documents, a total of about 1,000 pages, are among the first to be released to Corsi through his FOIA request to the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America, or SPP, which describes itself as an initiative "to increase security and to enhance prosperity among the three countries through greater cooperation."
"The documents clearly reveal that SPP, working within the U.S. Department of Commerce, is far advanced in putting together a new regional infrastructure, creating a 'shadow' trilateral bureaucracy with Mexico and Canada that is aggressively rewriting a wide range of U.S. administrative law, all without congressional oversight or public disclosure," Corsi said.

Among the initial discoveries, said Corsi, is the existence of an internal Intranet website that never has been revealed to Congress or the public.
"This private internal website," he claims, "undoubtedly contains a wealth of documentation that the FOIA request has so far intentionally excluded."
Corsi told WND the documents reveal hundreds of internal meetings, memoranda of understanding and other referenced agreements that have not been disclosed.
"We have here the beginnings of a whitewash," he said, "in which SPP evidently thinks the public will be hoodwinked by a 'Myths vs. Facts' document posted for public relations purposes on their public website."
Among the documents is an organizational chart accompanied by a listing of trilateral Mexican, Canadian and U.S. administrative officers who report on multiple cabinet level "working groups."
The government watchdog Judicial Watch announced today it has received some of the same documents, including the organizational chart, which can be seen in this pdf file, on page seven.
"There is no specific authorization for this massive administrative-branch integration with Mexico and Canada other than what amounts to a press conference jointly issued by President Bush, Mexico's President Vicente Fox, and Canada's then-Prime Minister Paul Martin on March 23, 2005, at the end of their summit in Waco, Texas," Corsi said.
Corsi added that even the "Myth vs. Facts" blurb on the SPP.gov website admits the SPP is neither a treaty nor a law.
"The Bush administration is trying to create the infrastructure of a new regional North American government in stealth fashion, under the radar and out of public view," Corsi claims. "Where is Congress, asleep at the wheel?"

Those who have taken the time to look into the SPP can see that something just isn't right about it. The SPP is being forwarded by people who do not want the public to know what they are doing, hiding their activities within shadow commitees and never speaking a word as to its nature or intent. Bush hasn't said one word about the actual activities he is trying to implement, he just throws out some tired old cliche' about integration without laying down the facts as to what that integration means.

What is most important for the people to know is that the SPP and the North American Union has been decided upon and will be initiated in the near future. You, dear American citizen who believes in the republic, autonomy, and sovereignty, will just have to find out what the politicians have already decided upon when they are kind enough to break the news to you that we are not a soverign country any more. We are not a soverign country any more; everyday we don't move to recapture our soverignty makes it all the harder when we'll finally wise up.

NEW YORK (AP) - As CBS prepares to launch a new season of the hit reality show "Survivor," this time featuring teams divided by race, enraged city officials are saying it promotes divisiveness and are calling for the network to reconsider.
"The idea of having a battle of the races is preposterous," City Councilman John Liu said Thursday. "How could anybody be so desperate for ratings?"
For the first portion of the 13th season of "Survivor," which premieres Sept. 14, the contestants competing for the $1 million prize while stranded on the Cook Islands in the South Pacific will be divided into four teams - blacks, Asians, Latinos and whites.
Liu, who is Asian-American, said he was launching a campaign urging CBS to pull the show because it could encourage racial division and promote negative typecasts. He and a coalition of officials, including the council's black, Latino and Asian caucus, planned to rally at City Hall on Friday.

How could anybody be so desperate for ratings? Or may I ask Mr. Liu, who is Asian-American, how could any politician be so desperate for publicity as to attack the formatting of a television show?

The trend is put down to Japanese companies’ attempts to globalise by adopting working practices more closely in line with US and British models. Larger numbers of temporary staff, a greater willingness to sack people and greater pay disparities are the downside.

WASHINGTON – Federal spending under the Bush administration has grown five times larger than that during the second term of the Clinton administration, charges a conservative Republican activist in a new book that paints the president as a traitor to his party.
In "Conservatives Betrayed," Richard Viguerie, credited with being one of the architects of the Reagan Revolution, says George W. Bush has set the stage for the punishment of his party by voters.
Viguerie compares spending by the federal government, adjusted for inflation, during the Clinton years vs. the Bush years. In Clinton's first term, federal expenditures rose 4.7 percent. In his second term, they rose 3.7 percent. In the first term of the Bush administration, however, spending rose 19.2 percent.
"If ever there was a case for divided government, here it is," writes Viguerie. "The lesson for many Americans is that today's Republicans cannot be trusted with the keys to both the executive and legislative branches of the federal government."
No matter how you slice it, Viguerie says, Bush makes Clinton look like a spending piker by comparison. For instance, the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University in New York keeps records that show how much the federal government spends on average each year for each person in the country. When this standard of measurement is used, the comparison between the two administrations is even more pronounced............

Yet another formula for measuring presidential fiscal responsibility, according to Viguerie, is rescissions. Reagan used rescission power to rescind funds authorized by Congress. Ford rescinded $7.9 billion in spending. Carter rescinded $4.6 billion, Reagan $43.4 billion, Bush I $13.1 billion, Clinton $6.6 billion.
But George W. Bush has not rescinded even $1 in congressional spending.
"The best illustration of the corrupting influence of power on the Republicans is the explosion of pork-barrel spending projects since 2000," says Viguerie.
Viguerie points to a 121 percent increase in pork-barrel earmarks in the first five years of the Bush administration.
"The size of the federal government is the single most important barometer of the health of the American republic," writes Viguerie. "When domestic federal spending goes up, it's a surefire indicator that something is wrong. And the way spending has been increasing under the Bush administration and the Republican Congress shows that things are seriously wrong."

What Congress Can Do About Higher Gas Prices

Gasoline prices are soaring and the American people are angry. They want something done about it—now!
$100 rebate checks to American motorists won’t cut it, nor will mandatory mileage requirements for new vehicles. Taxing oil profits will only force prices higher. But there are some very important things we can do immediately to help.
First: We must reassess our foreign policy and announce some changes. One of the reasons we went into Iraq was to secure oil. Before the Iraq war oil was less than $30 per barrel; today it is over $70. The sooner we get out of Iraq and allow the Iraqis to solve their own problems the better. Since 2002 oil production in Iraq has dropped 50%. Pipeline sabotage and fires are routine; we have been unable to prevent them. Soaring gasoline prices are a giant unintended consequence of our invasion, pure and simple.
Second: We must end our obsession for a military confrontation with Iran. Iran does not have a nuclear weapon, and according to our own CIA is nowhere near getting one. Yet the drumbeat grows louder for attacking certain sites in Iran, either by conventional or even nuclear means. An attack on Iran, coupled with our continued presence in Iraq, could hike gas prices to $5 or $6 per gallon here at home. By contrast, a sensible approach toward Iran could quickly lower oil prices by $20 per barrel.
Third: We must remember that prices of all things go up because of inflation. Inflation by definition is an increase in the money supply. The money supply is controlled by the Federal Reserve Bank, and responds to the deficits Congress creates. When deficits are excessive, as they are today, the Fed creates new dollars out of thin air to buy Treasury bills and keep interest rates artificially low. But when new money is created out of nothing, the money already in circulation loses value. Once this is recognized, prices rise – some more rapidly than others. That’s what we see today with the cost of energy.
Exploding deficits, due to runaway entitlement spending and the cost of overseas engagements, create pressure for the Fed to inflate the money supply. This contributes greatly to the higher prices we’re all paying at the pump.
If we want to do something about gas prices, Congress should greatly reduce federal spending, balance the budget, and eliminate regulations that interfere with the market development of alternative fuels. All subsidies and special benefits to energy companies should be ended. And in the meantime let’s eliminate federal gas taxes at the pump.
Oil prices are at a level where consumers reduce consumption voluntarily. The market will work if we let it. But as great as the market economy is, it cannot overcome a foreign policy that is destined to disrupt oil supplies and threaten the world with an expanded and dangerous conflict in the Middle East.

I have written enough letters, all to no avail. A couple of months ago, I contacted the local San Jose FBI office to let them know that Social Security cards were being sold openly at a local daily flea market. Most of the visitors to this huge flea market are Hispanic and the booth that sold Social Security cards also sold other forms of ID. They also were openly advertised.
Obviously this is illegal - and a source of documentation for illegal immigrants. I sent the FBI digital photos of the booth with its large signs advertising the illegal IDs.
Nothing has been done even though the FBI has been notified and the grounds are patrolled daily many local San Jose police. This is a travesty. I am fed up with the government’s refusal to protect our borders and enforce our laws. I did not serve in Viet Nam to see my country overrun by this invasion.

As WorldNetDaily reported, some critics of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America have said the program, though supposedly beneficial to the U.S., will lead to a North American superstate similar to the European Union, open borders, loss of sovereignty and even a common currency.
WND asked Snow about the criticism, stating, "As WorldNetDaily's lead story pointed out yesterday, critics are expressing concerns about the president's cooperative efforts with Mexico and Canada regarding the Security and Prosperity Partnership. Now the apologists are going to come out in full force and viscously attack anyone who doubts the intentions of the Bush administration and its goals for an American union as a crack pot conspiracy nut. I can already see it happening. But I for one will continue to question the motives of this transparently globalist administration. A good step toward ending my fears would be to seal the border and end this treasonous talk of a guest worker program to flood the country with foreigners who don't have any allegiance to the constitution, like Bush, and don't want to be American citizens. Talk by your press secretary is one thing. You acutally mentioning it and fielding questions, more than one, would possiby move me toward believeing you. But after all the lies and obfuscations that you have presented on a gilded platter made out of Chinese bought silver and served by an Illegal Alien waiter, I don't much believe anything you say anymore. Saying you're a conservative is also high on my list. Maybe actaully deploying the piddly 6000 national guardman would help too.

One of the great contributions of Nobel Laureate economist Friedrich Hayek was to admonish us to recognize the insurmountable limits to human knowledge. Why? Not even the brightest minds, and surely not the U.S. Congress, can ever have the knowledge to shape an economic system entirely to our liking. To think we can represents the height of arrogance and a pretense of knowledge. The billions upon billions of interrelationships between an economic system's human and non-human elements defy human capacity to know.
Let's examine just a few pretenses of knowledge. Under Social Security law, Congress forces workers to set aside a portion of their earnings for retirement. Take a 25-year-old – let's call her "Mary" – who earns $40,000 a year. Her Social Security tax is about $2,500. Here's my question to you: Was having $2,500 forcibly taken out of Mary's pay for retirement her best possible use of that money? Mary might have saved and invested several years to open a small business. She might have put it toward private schooling or music lessons for her child, or any number of things that might have made her, and possibly our nation, wealthier in the future...........................

Another example of the seen/unseen problem is the Bush administration's 2002 steel tariffs. The tariffs' seen beneficiaries were steel industry executives, stockholders and the approximately 1,700 steelworker jobs saved. According to the Consuming Industries Trade Action Association, higher steel prices, resulting from the tariffs, caused thousands of job losses in the steel-using industries. Since companies that used steel had to pay higher prices, they became less competitive domestically and internationally.

Each of us is faced with the knowledge and the seen and unseen problems. I believe that most Americans would see themselves in a much better position of determining what's in our own best interests than politicians, who are mostly concerned with re-election. At least I hope that's the case.

But don't take this economists word for it, the government can predict what is going to happen. Doesn't history prove that theory? Of course it does! Don't be silly.

Two groups of tourists were robbed at gunpoint on the National Mall, just hours after the police chief declared a crime emergency in the city in response to a string of violence that included the killing of a British activist.
The activist, Alan Senitt, was attacked in the Georgetown area on Sunday, his throat was slit and police say the attackers attempted to rape his companion. It was the 13th homicide in the city this month. Robberies are up 14 percent, and armed assaults have jumped 18 percent in the past 30 days.
On Wednesday, U.S. Park Police were looking for connections between the latest Mall robberies and three similar incidents in the area in late May. There have been no arrests in any of those cases.
On Tuesday night, two women from Texas were robbed at gunpoint by two men dressed in all black, said U.S. Park Police Sgt. Scott Fear. About 15 minutes later, a family of four from Missouri was robbed by suspects with the same description, he said.
Though no one was injured, Fear said there were similarities to three violent attacks on the National Mall in May. In one case, a 17-year- old woman was sexually assaulted.
"We try to prevent this from happening," Fear said. "We're going to reallocate our resources. We're going to see what improvements we can make."
District of Columbia Police Chief Charles Ramsey declared a crime emergency in the city after Senitt, a volunteer for the potential presidential campaign of former Virginia Gov. Mark R. Warner, was killed.
The crime emergency declaration allows commanders more flexibility to adjust officers' schedules and reassign them to high-crime areas.
The tourist-friendly National Mall, which is under the jurisdiction of Park Police rather than D.C. police, is usually considered safe. But the recent crimes against tourists have raised calls for a larger police presence.
Police are asking Mall visitors to "be our eyes and ears," Fear said. "We're going to ask them to be vigilant."

Now that a state of emergency has been issued, we will soon be hearing about imported guns from Virginia which is ruining the district. Then, of course, will be more calls for gun confiscations from law abiding citizens. I'm sure glad I don't live in D.C.

Norwegians defy tax-free rulesWeary of high prices and high taxes, Norwegians are smuggling goods into the country like never before. At least a third are believed to bring home more goods than their tax-free quotas allow, and it's not just tobacco and spirits that's being sneaked over the border. It's mostly the tax-free quotas on alcoholic beverages that the average Norwegian disregards most often, reports newspaper Aftenposten. Wine, for example, can cost as much as 40 percent less even in the state-controlled liquor stores in Sweden, where taxes still are higher than most other places in the world.
That makes it more than a little tempting for Norwegians in Sweden to pick up an extra 3-liter carton of wine before heading home. The recent sharp reduction of limits on what the Swedes themselves can bring home, along with their counterparts all over Europe, also have left many Norwegians thinking that the strict limits and high taxes they still must live with are simply unfair.
So they've literally been taking matters into their own hands. Customs inspectors along the Swedish border and at Oslo's main airport at Gardermoen say smuggling is up as much as 50 percent, given the sheer increase in the number of citations they've issued lately.
"We have a clear increase in the number of small, but illegal cases that end up with a fine," Per Johansen, regional director of the toll district for eastern Norway, told Aftenposten. "We're talking about normal folks who come home with 10 liters of wine or some extra bottles of liquor."
Johansen said the culprits come from all socio-economic levels of Norwegian society. Lars Vidar Ramdahl of the customs control post at Svinesund, on Norway's southern border to Sweden, said few Norwegians quarrel with the fines.
"They know what they're doing," he said, and many tend to laugh it off when they get caught.

Can this article really be considered news? People will do everything they can to avoid paying taxes. And contrary to what anyone says, No one likes paying (ANY) taxes. Hell, America was built on rum runners and bootleggers plying their trade where the tax man does not tread.

For years officials at the Federal Reserve Bank, including Chairman Bernanke himself, have assured us that inflation is under control and not a problem – even as the price of housing, energy, medical care, school tuition, gold, and other commodities skyrockets.
The Treasury department parrots the Fed line that consumer prices, as measured by the consumer price index (CPI), are under control. But even many mainstream economists now admit that CPI grossly understates true inflation. The most glaring problem is that CPI excludes housing prices, instead tracking rents. Everyone knows the cost of purchasing a home has increased dramatically in the last ten years; in many regions housing prices have more than doubled in just five years. So price inflation certainly is alive and well when to comes to the largest purchase most Americans make.
When the Federal Reserve increases the supply of dollars in circulation, both paper and electronic, prices must rise eventually. What other result it possible? The supply of dollars has risen much faster than the supply of goods and services being chased by those dollars. Fed policy makers have more than doubled the money supply in less than ten years. While Treasury printing presses can print unlimited dollars, there are natural limits to economic growth. This flood of newly minted US currency can only increase consumer prices in the long term.
Mr. Bernanke has stated quite candidly that he will use government printing presses to stimulate the economy as necessary. He is famous for joking that he would endorse dropping money from helicopters if needed to prevent an economic slowdown. This is nothing short of an express policy to destroy our money by inflation. Every new dollar erodes the value of existing dollars based on simple supply and demand. Does anyone really believe the Treasury can make us rich simply by printing more money?
The coming dollar crisis is not likely to be “fixed” by politicians who are unwilling to make hard choices, admit mistakes, and spend less money. Demographic trends will place even greater demands on Congress to maintain benefits for millions of older Americans who are dependent on the federal government.
Faced with uncomfortable financial realities, Congress will seek to avoid the day of reckoning by the most expedient means available – and the Federal Reserve undoubtedly will accommodate Washington by printing more dollars to pay the bills. The Fed is the enabler for the spending addicts in Congress, who would rather spend new fiat money than face the political consequences of raising taxes or borrowing more abroad.
The irony is that many of the Fed’s biggest cheerleaders are the same supposed capitalists who denounced centralized economic planning when practiced by the former Soviet Union. Large banks and Wall Street firms love the Fed’s easy money policy, because they profit at the front end from the resulting loan boom and artificially high equity prices. It’s the little guy who loses when the inflated dollars finally trickle down to him and erode his buying power. Someday Americans will understand that Federal Reserve bankers have no magic ability – and certainly no legal or moral right – to decide how much money should exist and what the cost of borrowing money should be.

The only thing looking up from that is the numbers of wetbacks streaming across the border. And we really thought things were looking up in the Iraq war in 2004. We're still in Iraq, but we did manage to build the largest most super awesome embassy on the face of the earth. You did hear about that before today didn't you? I hope so. Now things are looking up because of all this opposition to the SPP. We are really eating crumbs when a few news sources even mention the damn thing and we call it opposition. WASHINGTON – Are secret meetings being held between the corporate and political elites of the U.S., Mexico and Canada to push North America into a European Union-style merger?
Is President Bush's reluctance to control the border and enforce laws requiring deportation of foreigners who enter the country illegally part of a master plan to all but eliminate borders between the U.S., Canada and Mexico?
Does the agenda of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America include a common currency that would scrap the dollar in favor of what some are calling the "amero"?
It may be the biggest story of the 21st century, but few press outlets are telling it. In fact, until very recently, few in the U.S. were aware of the plans and even fewer denouncing what appears to be the implementation of an effort some have characterized as "NAFTA on steroids."
But opposition is mounting.

Perhaps the most blistering criticism has come from Lou Dobbs of CNN – a frequent critic of Bush's immigration policies.
"A regional prosperity and security program?" he asked rhetorically in a recent cablecast. "This is absolute ignorance. And the fact that we are -- we reported this, we should point out, when it was signed. But, as we watch this thing progress, these working groups are continuing. They're intensifying. What in the world are these people thinking about? You know, I was asked the other day about whether or not I really thought the American people had the stomach to stand up and stop this nonsense, this direction from a group of elites, an absolute contravention of our law, of our Constitution, every national value. And I hope, I pray that I'm right when I said yes. But this is -- I mean, this is beyond belief."
What has Dobbs and a few other vocal critics bugged began in earnest March 31, 2005, when the elected leaders of the U.S., Mexico and Canada agreed to advance the agenda of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America.
No one seems quite certain what that agenda is because of the vagueness of the official declarations. But among the things the leaders of the three countries agreed to work toward were borders that would allow for easier and faster moving of goods and people between the countries.
Coming as the announcement did in the midst of a raging national debate in the U.S. over borders seen as far to open already, more than a few jaws dropped.

Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo. and the chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus as well as author of the new book, "In Mortal Danger," may be the only elected official to challenge openly the plans for the new superstate.
Responding to a WorldNetDaily report, Tancredo is demanding the Bush administration fully disclose the activities of the government office implementing the trilateral agreement that has no authorization from Congress.
Tancredo wants to know the membership of the Security and Prosperity Partnership groups along with their various trilateral memoranda of understanding and other agreements reached with counterparts in Mexico and Canada.
Jim Gilchrist, co-founder of the Minutemen, welcomed Tancredo's efforts.
"It's time for the Bush administration to come clean," Gilchrist said. "If President Bush's agenda is to establish a new North American union government to supersede the sovereignty of the United States, then the president has an obligation to tell this to the American people directly. The American public has a right to know."
Geri Word, who heads the SPP office, told WND the work had not been disclosed because, "We did not want to get the contact people of the working groups distracted by calls from the public."

I love that line in red; their distraction is your future.

I am elated that the plans for our future have come along so well for the elites that they can't be bottled up anymore. If you're going to merge our countries together you might just have to tell the citizens. Not that they would do anything about it; Hillary Clinton might get elected, and that would be the worst thing that could ever happen. Just listen to Sean Hannity. He makes sure to tell his listeners every day. This SPP thing is of little or no concern.

Weight loss plan: I'll mow your lawn for free

Darrell Nelson of Coon Rapids is a man with a lawnmower and a dream. He wants to lose 30 to 50 pounds, but he has had trouble in the past adhering to an exercise program. However, if he makes a commitment to another person, he tends to stick to it, he said.
A possible solution to Nelson's weight problem came to him while mowing his lawn this summer.
"I get done and I'm sweating like a pig, and I go: God, I should be able to do a couple lawns a week and I could probably lose a few more pounds," said Nelson, a former power lifter who's about 5 feet 9 and 258 pounds.
His solution was to offer lawn-mowing services for free on the website Craig's List. If he were to eat better and mow a lawn per day for almost every day of the week, he figured, he would be able to keep an exercise program going.
"This is no joke or gimmick," he wrote. "I need to lose weight. I have struggled on sticking to exercise programs, including just walking, for quite a while now. ... I need to find four other lawns to mow in the Coon Rapids area."
Nelson has fielded calls from reporters, his family, strangers, a hardware store that potentially wants to use him in an ad -- even some women asking him out.
"It's unbelievable. My life has been turned upside down, man, unbelievable," he said. "I was planning on doing five lawns: Mine plus four others. Now, I'm doing six lawns: Mine plus five others. ... The response I've had was amazing. ... I had a phone call from a guy in Iowa just this morning. ... And I've been asked out by three women. It's nuts. ... I was just trying to do some yards and lose some weight, and it just -- voila -- away it went."

This man is obvioulsy a racist hegemonist. How could he do the work that Americans won't do, and for free at that? He is literally taking the job of an illegal aliens with this stunt. He must also hate unions and government too. How could he undercut the lawn mower unions, and where is he going to register and pay taxes for his exertions? This man is anti-American. Because this is what is not being sold to us. We have had no discussions, the people haven't been consulted, and only one person in government has deigned ask any questions about this SPP. Since the American people won't vote for foreign governments and NGO's to have control over our country, the executive branch has been careful to institute this program underground. Just like that pesty 2/3 vote that is required for treaties (CAFTA), our government decided on agreements that are virtually treaties but without going through all the channels and laws we have on the books. They'll just rename it an understanding or some other such obfuscation. It fits the bill. Some fools would call me a conspiracy theorist because I don't take what the president feeds me at face value. But let the record speak for itself. Go to the site in the link then wonder why you haven't heard anything about this sovereignty destorying program. Those who hold the reins of power undersand that this isn't an issue that the American people can be trusted to vote on. We would come off as non-globalists and it would destroy our UN credibility. It appears that the Northern invasion of the South is complete -- at least it is on a patch of land known as Delta Plantation in Jasper County.
There, a diehard rebel named Henry E. Ingram Jr. made his last stand against the onslaught of Yankees, only to be thwarted by a man from Long Island, N.Y., and now -- gasp -- a French Canadian.
Ingram promised to keep Yankees out of Delta Plantation in Jasper County when he bought 1,700 acres there in 1998. His resolve to keep them out still is strong, but the covenants he put on the land don't seem to have any teeth.
Those covenants did, however, scare Canadian-raised Bluffton resident Louise Legare a bit as she was close to signing a contract to buy a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house on the land from Bluffton Home Builders.
The list of rules she got from the builders was missing the first pages, so she went to the Jasper County Courthouse to get the missing ones. There, she found the covenants, or rules, that Ingram demanded of buyers:
1. They could not be Yankees.
2. They could not have the last name Sherman (an obvious reference to Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman).
3. And the land could not be sold or leased to those whose last names could be rearranged to spell Sherman.
Clearly, Ingram doesn't like Northern folk.
Now, however, Legare and Bluffton Home Builders are working with Ingram's son, Ashley Ingram, to remove the covenants. The former Delta Plantation is on both sides of U.S. 17, just north of the Georgia state line.
"When (Legare) brought it to us, we all kind of had a good laugh," said Jim Hobbs, a partner in the home-building firm.
In fact, Legare is buying the land and home from Bill Cook, another partner in the company, who happens to be a native of Long Island, N.Y. No one at Bluffton Home Builders had seen the covenants before Legare found the missing pages, and no one has ever tried to enforce them, Hobbs said.
If Henry Ingram had his way, he still would keep Yankees off of the 1,700 acres he once owned. His holdings on the plantation have dwindled to 10 acres.
Ingram, now a resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, said his son and attorney, who are both local, should be looking out for his anti-northerner wishes now.
"Yankees destroy everything they have up North, then they come down here," Ingram said. "When they destroy everything (in the South), where are they going to move next? Another country?"
Legare, who grew up north of Montreal, figures her far-northern upbringing must be especially abhorrent to Ingram.
"I must be more of a Yankee," she said. "I'm the person he really doesn't want to live there."
Amazingly, Legare is a much better choice to own Southern land than a New Yorker, according to Ingram.
"French people are much better and more desirable than a Yankee," said Ingram, who once owned video-poker casinos in Jasper County. "They don't stick their noses in other people's business."
The same feature drew Legare and Ingram to the land -- nature. Ingram said he's seen Carolina panthers, bald eagles and fox squirrels on the land. It is that quiet beauty Legare is after.
"I was raised in a very nature-like environment," Legare said. "I think the nature is beautiful in South Carolina."
Ingram, who says he is leaving Texas for Costa Rica soon, cites the boorish manners of Yankees as one of his prime dislikes for them.
"They look down their little pointy noses at the people in the South because we are polite and nice to them," Ingram said. "They think people who are polite and nice are dumb."

We need more Southrons like this man.

The Bush administration has been unable to muster even half of the 2,500 National Guardsmen it planned to have on the Mexican border by the end of June.
As of Thursday, the next-to-last day of the month, fewer than 1,000 troops were in place, according to military officials in the four border states of Texas, California, New Mexico and Arizona.

Did anyone really believe he was going to seal the border despite his rhetoric? I think not. That is why this story isn't so suprising. The paltry amount of Guardsmen on the border acutally curbing some of the illegal invasion into this country is not suprising either. Taxpaying American citizens being sold out to foreign interests for future votes, campaign contributions and globalization, not suprising either. That we're still a country, suprising! I didn't intend to make this sound like an American Express commercial. But I'm running out of ideas to describe this treason. It is priceless.

U.S. Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., wants the New York Times and other newspapers indicted for reports on a secret financial-monitoring program used to trace terrorists.
"We're at war, and for the Times to release information about secret operations and methods is treasonous," King told the Associated Press.
King is critical of last week's story that the Treasury Department was working with the CIA to study messages within an international database of money-transfer records.
King, who serves as chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said he'd contact Attorney General Alberto Gonzales urging him to "begin an investigation and prosecution of the New York Times – the reporters, the editors and the publisher."

Silly me, I thought everyone knew that the federal government spied on the people. They have been talking about freezing terrorist funds since 2001 and people are suprised about them continuing to do it in 2006.

Benjamin, the up and coming neocon propagandist, Shapiro has weighed in on the flag burning amendment. It's wrong to burn the flag. That is what I have gleamed from his wonderful piece. What I didn't find was any rational argument. But he did have time to drop this oxymoron into the debate.

In 1989, the Supreme Court suddenly decided that 200 years of legal interpretation were dead wrong. "The way to preserve the flag's special role is not to punish those who feel differently about these matters," wrote Justice Brennan. "It is to persuade them that they are wrong. We can imagine no more appropriate response to burning a flag than waving one's own, no better way to counter a flag burner's message than by saluting the flag that burns, no surer means of preserving the dignity even of the flag that burned than by – as one witness here did – according its remains a respectful burial."
This is idiocy, and dangerous idiocy at that. The American flag represents our nation; it represents American values; it represents the blood of those who have died and continue to die on battlefields across the world to protect our freedoms. The American flag does not represent the nonexistent right of traitors to desecrate the stars and bars. When the American flag is burned, it represents a denial of the most fundamental notion of citizenship. Those who burn the flag are no less traitors than those who renounce their citizenship to fight with our enemies. To state that burning the flag is a legitimate form of expression and that we should respond by waving a flag of our own, is to turn political debate from cogent argument to slogan-screaming.

Slogan-screaming? You must be really hurting for an argument. This is another case of what we are taught in schools nowadays. First you get a thesis, then you prove your thesis using selected quotes and jumps in reasoning to arrive at thinking you have proved your thesis. Truth isn't a considered issue.

We are told that to deny such common ground is unimportant. "There are scarcely any instances across America where people are burning the flag. And yet, now we want to set aside the important business of the Senate, health care and energy policy and education, and debate for an entire week this concept of amending our Bill of Rights," says Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill.
Protecting those who urinate, defecate, burn or stomp on our flag is not noble. Protecting our flag from such animals is not unimportant. Our flag is not merely a piece of cloth. Burning the flag is not exercising free speech, but denying American nationhood. We disgrace our origins, our soldiers and ourselves by allowing flag desecration an honored place in the constitutional pantheon of rights.

No slogan-screaming here. Look at the quote in red immediately above. Neocons are just like the liberals; neither believes our rights are God-given and immutable. Our rights contingent on what we allow? The government of man is much higher than God's law in neocon circles. This is a piece of trash if ever one has been written. I can't believe he could have any sincerity with this argument. And for the sake of fairness, why is there no mention of property rights by Shapiro? Well, those are one of those rights we allow and are not given by God. Just ask Kelo. She'll tell ya.

Most Congressional majorities campaign for re-election by touting their legislative achievements. Not this year. House Republicans have decided that the key to saving their majority is not to solve the immigration problem they've spent the last year building into a "crisis." Give them credit for novelty, if not for wisdom.
This is the only way to read House Speaker Denny Hastert's decision this week to delay a House-Senate conference on immigration reform, and instead to stage a summer anti-immigration road show. Republicans plan to use the events to further raise the false alarm of "amnesty," which means further attacking their own President's immigration policy. We realize this year's immigration debate long ago left the rational world and is now driven entirely by political fear. But even as political strategy, this is the equivalent of snake-handling; it will be diverting to watch, unless the snake bites back.

Republicans came to this strategic epiphany after concluding that Representative Brian Bilbray won his special election victory in California this month by demagoguing immigration. But all that election really proved is that a GOP Beltway lobbyist could keep a seat in a 60% Republican district so long as he outspent an opponent who committed the final-week gaffe of encouraging immigrants to vote illegally. Replicate that trifecta around the country this November, and Republicans wouldn't need to campaign.
Looking at House Republicans who are vulnerable this year, we can't find a single one who will lose because of support for President Bush's comprehensive immigration reform. That isn't Heather Wilson's problem in New Mexico; she always has a tough race and favors both border security and a guest worker program. Chris Shays also won't save his seat by rallying the bluebloods in Greenwich, Connecticut, against their Mexican maids and construction workers. On the other hand, J.D. Hayworth could lose his seat in Arizona despite taking his anti-immigration riff to any radio or TV show that will have him.
What might well cost all of them their seats is the growing perception that this Congress hasn't achieved much of anything. If Republicans want a precedent, they might recall what happened to Democrats who failed to pass a crime bill in the summer of 1994. Already in trouble on taxes at the time, Democrats looked feckless on crime and health care and went down to crashing defeat. Immigration could do the same for Republicans, who have been flogging the issue for months as a grave national problem. Doing nothing about it now risks alienating even those conservatives who merely want more border police.
House Republicans insist they can't vote for any bill that can be called an "amnesty" for illegals, and that that's what the Senate and Mr. Bush want. But this is a box canyon of their own making. No serious person believes that the 11 million or so illegals already in America will be deported. Nor will these illegals come out of the shadows unless there is some kind of process that allows them to become legal and keep their jobs, even if it falls short of a path to citizenship. And immigrants will keep coming illegally in search of a better life unless there is some legal way they can apply for and find work.
Yet by denouncing any such compromise as "amnesty," the restrictionists have poisoned their own voters against accepting the only policy with a chance to solve the problem. When Indiana's Mike Pence, a stalwart conservative, offered a compromise that included a guest worker program, the Tancredo brigades savaged even him as endorsing "amnesty." Rather than see the Pence plan as a way out of their political mess, Mr. Hastert failed to defend him. On immigration, Mr. Tancredo is now the real speaker of the House.

Even if all of this somehow works this election year, the long term damage to the GOP could be considerable. Pete Wilson demonized illegal aliens to win re-election as California Governor in 1994, but at the price of alienating Latino voters for a decade. The smarter Republicans--President Bush, Karl Rove, Senator John McCain, Colorado Governor Bill Owens and Florida Governor Jeb Bush--understand that the GOP can't sustain its majority without a larger share of the Hispanic vote. Making Mr. Tancredo the spokesman on this issue is a surefire way to make Hispanics into permanent Democrats.
Every poll we've seen says that the public favors an immigration reform of the kind that President Bush does. That's because, whatever their concerns about border security, Americans are smart enough to know that immigrants will keep coming as long as they have the economic incentive to do so. They also don't want the social disruption favored by the deport-'em-all Tancredo Republicans.
On policy, the country could do worse than pass nothing this year on immigration. We've muddled through for years, and at 4.6% unemployment the U.S. economy is easily absorbing the illegal workforce. But having turned the immigration issue into a rallying cry, Republicans have put themselves at political risk if they do nothing. If the GOP finds itself in the minority next year, we trust its restrictionists will stand up and take a bow.

Army takes older recruits

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Army, aiming to make its recruiting goals amid the Iraq war, raised its maximum enlistment age by another two years on Wednesday, while the Army Reserve predicted it will miss its recruiting target for a second straight year.
People can now volunteer to serve in the active-duty Army or the part-time Army Reserve and National Guard up to their 42nd birthday after the move aimed at increasing the number of people eligible to sign up, officials said.
It marked the second time this year the Army has boosted the maximum age for new volunteers, raising the ceiling from age 35 to 40 in January before now adding two more years.
More than three years into the war, the Army continues to provide the bulk of U.S. ground forces in Iraq. Army officials have acknowledged the war has made some recruits and their families wary about volunteering.
The Army Reserve, along with the regular Army and Army National Guard, missed its fiscal 2005 recruiting goal, and it currently lags its fiscal 2006 year-to-date goal by 4 percent.
Army Lt. Gen. Jack Stultz, the new Army Reserve chief, said he does not expect the Reserve to reach its goal of 36,000 recruits for fiscal 2006, which ends September 30.
"We think we'll come in right around that 96 (percent), 97 percent range," Stultz told reporters.

They're running out of room at the top. The next step will be to lower the recruitment age. I'm sure sixteen sounds sweet to the government. And they're talking about starting a war with Iran?

STUART, Fla. – This South Florida community some 90 miles north of Miami is outraged after a suspected illegal alien allegedly raped a puppy.
The man, who initially told police his name was Junio Trenta but is believed to be Enrique Garcia, was taken into custody after Martin County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a possible animal in distress.
When they arrived, officers "saw Garcia sexually assaulting a 28-pound, 14- to 16-week-old dog of mixed breed," according to the sheriffs office.
Upon being seen, the Mexican transient said, "It's my dog," and, "What's the problem?"
The arrest affidavit indicates the male dog ran and hid behind the deputies.
Garcia then talked with detectives and admitted only to having the dog in his lap.
He's now charged with sexual bestiality, animal cruelty, possession of drug paraphernalia, giving a false name and exposure of sexual organs. His bond is $13,000.

The UN Is Still At It

Let me ask you a question: Do you think you pay enough taxes? Throughout the year you paid federal taxes through withholding, including Social Security payroll taxes. You also paid state income taxes, unless you’re fortunate enough to live in Texas or another state without an income tax. You paid local property taxes. You paid local sales taxes every time you bought something, and you paid numerous miscellaneous taxes such as vehicle license fees and federal gas taxes. Like most people, you probably feel taxed to death by all these city, county, state, and federal taxes. Well, hold on to your wallets, because the United Nations now wants to impose a whole new level of global taxes on us.
UN bureaucrats think rich nations like America ought to give more money to poor nations – a lot more – simply because we’re rich. Never mind the billions of foreign aid tax dollars we send overseas every year; never mind the billions donated to overseas charities by Americans, the most charitable people on earth. The UN mindset blames the western world for poverty everywhere, assuming that our relative wealth must have come at the expense of the third world. The poor countries themselves are never deemed responsible for their own predicaments, despite their often corrupt governments, lack of property rights, and hostility toward wealth-producing capitalism. Somehow, it’s always our fault. So the UN holds conferences to talk about how we should pay to make things right, and the idea of a UN tax naturally arises.
Understand that the UN views itself as the emerging global government, and like all governments, it needs money to operate. The goal, which the UN readily admits, is to impose a comprehensive set of global laws on all of us – laws that supersede sovereign national governments. To do this, the UN needs a global military, a global police force, international courts, offices around the globe, and plenty of highly-paid international bureaucrats. All of this costs money.
Rest assured that the UN is absolutely serious about imposing a global tax. In fact, it has been discussing a global currency tax for years. The "Tobin tax," named after the Yale professor who proposed it, would be imposed on all worldwide currency transactions. Such a tax could prove quite lucrative for the UN.
The Tobin tax is not the only idea being considered. Some have suggested taxing all airline travel or carbon emissions. The ultimate goal is an income tax, which will be imposed after we’ve all swallowed the concept of UN taxing authority.
Fortunately, the House of Representatives last week passed my language in the 2007 Foreign Operations bill that prohibits the Treasury from paying UN dues if the organization attempts to implement or impose any kind of tax on US citizens. But that only protects us for another year. Given the stated goals of the UN, it would be foolish to believe the idea of a global tax will go away.

A Republican recently said to me that he no longer supports G. W. Bush, although he previously had voted for him. "He’s turned out to be a liberal just like his daddy," he said, "and I don't want a thing to do with him." This seems to be a common theme echoing throughout the blogosphere, where pundits have realized that 'compassionate conservative' really means "liberal in disguise." Is Bush a liberal? On four out of five key issues, Bush has shown his liberal leanings. First, nowhere is Bush’s betrayal more evident than with immigration. He refuses to recognize that America historically has not been a “nation of [illegal] immigrants” arriving at an extant welfare state, but rather a nation of settlers and colonists. Like a failed Roman emperor, Bush engages in the unbecoming business of auctioning of citizenship for (unlikely) future loyalty. He sides with Ted Kennedy in pushing a guest-worker program, although a recent Zogby poll shows that 81 percent of Republican voters support an enforcement-only approach. Jettisoning reason, tradition, and loyalty to hard-working Americans, Bush attempts to transform America into a third-world country. Second, Bush also allies himself with Ted Kennedy on education. Bush’s socialist No Child Left Behind should be named “Great Society, Pt. II.” NCLB has removed authority over education from the states and placed it at the feet of a bloated federal bureaucracy; has expanded the role of certification and the proletarian Schools of Education; has reinforced the notion that education should be universal; and will have a dumbing-down effect unlike any we’ve ever seen. One can easily dismiss this piece of legislation as one of the worst washouts in recent history.

Isn't it time for conservatives to wise up? If we do it soon, we might even be able to save our lives and our country.

There's none of your fancy-shmancy, money-laundering, torturous transactions through cut-outs, front groups, PACs, pals, former aides, off-shore islands and what have you, like you get with your Tom DeLays and your Jack Abramoffs and your Duke Cunninghams. No sir, with Big Denny Hastert, it's all up front, just like his prodigious belly: "We gonna build this highway I pushed through right near this land I done bought and, son, we gonna make ourselves a great big pile." That's the American way!

The Whig party, I mean the Republican party is making money the old fashioned way. Now, if Hastert said he was emulating his idol Abraham Lincoln and his approach for making money representing the railroads, would that be okay? Make sure to read the whole article. The Future According to Bush

Author Jerome Corsi filed a Freedom of Information Act request yesterday asking for full disclosure of the activities of an office implementing a trilateral agreement with Mexico and Canada that apparently could lead to a North American union, despite having no authorization from Congress................
Corsi specifically has requested the partnership's membership lists, constitutive documents, meeting minutes, meeting agendas and meeting schedules as well as all findings, reports, presentations or memoranda.
He also wants all comments to representatives of the "Prosperity Working Groups" or other working groups, committees or task forces associated with the partnership along with internal and external interagency or intra-agency memoranda of understanding, letters of intent, agreements, initiatives and budgeting documents.
Corsi believes President Bush effectively agreed to erase U.S. borders with Mexico and Canada when he signed the SPP.
Geri Word, the administrator in charge of SPP, confirmed in a telephone conversation with Corsi that SPP.gov has not published the membership lists of the working groups or the many trilateral agreements the website documents indicate are being implemented.
"This is all being done by the executive branch below the radar," Corsi told WND. "If President Bush had told the American people in the 2004 presidential campaign that his goal was to create a North American union, he would not have carried a single red state."
The president, Corsi maintains, has charged the bureaucracy to form a North American union "through executive fiat ... without ever disclosing his plans directly to the American people or to Congress."
Attorney Robert A. McGuire, who filed the request on Corsi's behalf and is preparing further requests, says if the president "is creating a new North American union government without the full and complete knowledge of the American people, we are facing a severe constitutional crisis."
The purpose of the FOIA, he said, is to get the "full facts exposed in the light of day, available for the American people and for Congress to examine and decide."......................

Tancredo wants to know the membership of the SPP groups along with their various trilateral memoranda of understanding and other agreements reached with counterparts in Mexico and Canada.
Many SPP working groups appear to be working toward achieving specific objectives as defined by a May 2005 Council on Foreign Relations task force report, which presented a blueprint for expanding the SPP agreement into a North American union that would merge the U.S., Canada and Mexico into a new governmental form.

That wonderful graphic of the highway to hell, above, may have sparked some outrage from people who still believe in the antiquated institution of national sovereignty.

Tom Tancredo is making his opinion known, Corsi is asking for information from the federals. It almost makes one think that the American people might hear about the major plans for their future from their representatives. As yet, only WND, the-old-dominion, LOS blog by Mike Tuggle and other conservative (not neo-) websites have reported on it at all. The quote in red is the absolute truth; you've heard nothing of the truth from the mainstream media. And please visit this website to help stop the land slide. This past weekend, a thought provoking e-mail circulated through Internet news groups, and was sent to the Muckraker Report by Mr. Paul V. Sheridan (Winner of the 2005 Civil Justice Foundation Award), bringing attention to the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorist web page for Usama Bin Laden.[1] (See bottom of this web page for Most Wanted page) In the e-mail, the question is asked, “Why doesn’t Usama Bin Laden’s Most Wanted poster make any direct connection with the events of September 11, 2001?” The FBI says on its Bin Laden web page that Usama Bin Laden is wanted in connection with the August 7, 1998 bombings of the United States Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya. According to the FBI, these attacks killed over 200 people. The FBI concludes its reason for “wanting” Bin Laden by saying, “In addition, Bin Laden is a suspect in other terrorists attacks throughout the world.” On June 5, 2006, the Muckraker Report contacted the FBI Headquarters, (202) 324-3000, to learn why Bin Laden’s Most Wanted poster did not indicate that Usama was also wanted in connection with 9/11. The Muckraker Report spoke with Rex Tomb, Chief of Investigative Publicity for the FBI. When asked why there is no mention of 9/11 on Bin Laden’s Most Wanted web page, Tomb said, “The reason why 9/11 is not mentioned on Usama Bin Laden’s Most Wanted page is because the FBI has no hard evidence connecting Bin Laden to 9/11.” Surprised by the ease in which this FBI spokesman made such an astonishing statement, I asked, “How this was possible?” Tomb continued, “Bin Laden has not been formally charged in connection to 9/11.” I asked, “How does that work?” Tomb continued, “The FBI gathers evidence. Once evidence is gathered, it is turned over to the Department of Justice. The Department of Justice than decides whether it has enough evidence to present to a federal grand jury. In the case of the 1998 United States Embassies being bombed, Bin Laden has been formally indicted and charged by a grand jury. He has not been formally indicted and charged in connection with 9/11 because the FBI has no hard evidence connected Bin Laden to 9/11.” It shouldn’t take long before the full meaning of these FBI statements start to prick your brain and raise your blood pressure. If you think the way I think, in quick order you will be wrestling with a barrage of very powerful questions that must be answered. First and foremost, if the U.S. government does not have enough hard evidence connecting Bin Laden to 9/11, how is it possible that it had enough evidence to invade Afghanistan to “smoke him out of his cave?” The federal government claims to have invaded Afghanistan to “root out” Bin Laden and the Taliban. Through the talking heads in the mainstream media, the Bush Administration told the American people that Usama Bin Laden was Public Enemy Number One and responsible for the deaths of nearly 3000 people on September 11, 2001. Yet nearly five years later, the FBI says that it has no hard evidence connecting Bin Laden to 9/11.

You read that right! The FBI has no hard evidence connecting Usama Bin Laden with 9/11. Imagine that. No matter what one thinks about 911, it stinks to high heaven.

The Chesapeake Bay is becoming to Washington, DC what the Jersey Pine Barrens were for the New York and Philly mobs -- a place where people simply disappear. The latest victim of the "Chesapeake Triangle" is Philip Merrill, the publisher of the Annapolis-based Capital-Gazette Newspapers (publisher of the Annapolis Capital and Maryland Gazette) and the Washingtonian magazine. Last Sunday, Merrill's sailboat, the Merrilly, was found drifting with the engine running off Breezy Point in Calvert County, Maryland. Although Merrill's wallet was found on board, there was no sign of Merrill, an experienced sailor who, after an extensive search, was declared dead. A witness who found the drifting Merrilly said there was some blood found in the back of the boat. Washington has experienced similar inexplicable losses in the Bay. On Sep. 26, 1978, retired CIA Deputy Director for Strategic Research John A. Paisley's sailboat was found moored off Solomon's Island, Maryland, south of where Merrill's boat was found. Later, Paisley's body was found in the nearby Patuxent River, his submerged body tied to diving weights. Although Paisley was shot through the head, police ruled it a suicide. Paisley was involved with the electronic intercept programs of both the CIA and NSA and may have had important information on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy that he was about to impart to the House Select Committee on Assassinations.

The Bay sounds awfully dangerous. Especially if you are a poltical insider who has made the other upset.
